Vinyl Release Show: The Rat and Raven
The human experience is filled with all kinds of fictions and complications that make it difficult to be sure about anything. So many subjectivities, interpretations, andsoforth, etc. But if there is a single fact that has been written down in the Book of Ages, the walls of Valhalla, or in the annals of Time itself, it is that the show Saturday night at The Rat and Raven slayed. It was a heavy-handed psychedelic bill that opened with Kaleidosaur and their m
assive pedal setup—which included several loop stations, a KAOS pad and I think a Korg MS-10—and dazzled everyone with some weird beeps and buzzes set to soft clicks and beats. Scriptures played, and our buddy Scott Kennedy (Black Nite Crash, Erik Blood) shredded some solos with us on “Your Town is On Fire.” Floorian blazed a formidable set of heavy-drone-acid rock. Their music changed the mood of the room immediately, so much that when I started giving the audience earplugs out of a plastic bag, several people asked me if I was handing out mushrooms. After Floorian, This Blinding Light rocked out (as I have always known them to do). Again, we want to say thanks to everyone who came out and supported us for part two of the vinyl release, and Michelle at The Comet for booking, and Nicolas (The Curious Mystery) for running sound. And thanks to everyone who bought the vinyl.
Next show: Everyday Music In-Store, June 16th.
